      Following the successful launch of the Jason-3 satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in Washington D.C. yesterday to meet NASA Administrator Charles Bolden and give a talk on French space policy to the U.S. space community.

    8. Pleiades satellites return their first images of Nepal after the earthquake

      Two days after the earthquake that struck Nepal, the Pleiades satellites, developed by CNES, have captured an image of the capital city, Kathmandu. The satellites were tasked after the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters, co-founded in 2000 by CNES and the European Space Agency (ESA), was called into action. This image and subsequent imagery will be used to locate and map the affected areas, providing valuable support for the relief effort on the ground.

      Tuesday 3 December, Place Hubert Curien, on the corner of Rue Rataud and Rue Pierre Brossolette in Paris’s 5th arrondissement, was inaugurated in the presence of Frédérique Vidal, Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Laurent Fabius, President of the Constitutional Council, members of the Curien family and CNES President and ESA Council Chair Jean-Yves Le Gall.

      The CNES delegation to the maritime economy convention in Nice, led by its Chairman & CEO Philippe Baptiste, was welcomed to the Monaco Oceanographic Museum by its Director, Robert Calcagno, Tuesday 14 September. After a guided tour and discussions centred on future areas for cooperation, Philippe Baptiste and Robert Calcagno signed a partnership agreement aimed at gaining new insights into the oceans through space technologies, in the presence of His Excellency Laurent Stefanini, France’s Ambassador to Monaco.
